10 simple steps to create a winning team:

    1. Find teammates on campus.
    – Best way to meet people through your dorm, clubs, or in classes.
    2. Choose a captain and know the registration date for the sports you are interested in playing.
    3. Have ONE person, usually the captain, stop by the Intramural Sports Office in WFC 201-D before the deadline to register.
    – The earlier your team signs up, the better time slot you will receive for your games.
    4. Bring your team registration fee. Carolina Card, checks and cash are the only acceptable forms of payment.
    – It’s up to you how you come up with the registration fee.
    5. Once you register in our office, you must create your team on with the directions given. Invite your teammates to join via email or encourage them to log in and ask to join your team (again, directions will be given to you when you register).
    6. Always double check what time your game is prior to your game.
    7. Do NOT forfeit. A default is better than a forfeit.
    – If you cannot make your game or will not have enough teammates, call the Intramural Sports office by 3 p.m. on the day of your game (or 11 a.m. for Sunday games).
    – Two (2) forfeits in one season will make your team ineligible for playoffs.
    8. Always check your email. All playoff brackets, schedule changes, or anything else will be emailed to all teammates via

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is Intramural Sports (where does it fit within Varsity & Clubs)?

Anyone can play Intramurals – whether you lettered in high school, or have never kicked a ball. You create your own team, sign up for a time that convenient for you, and play – no try-outs, no practices, no traveling. Compete at whatever level you feel comfortable!

    How much do they cost?

Most officiated leagues are $30/team. Most non-officiated leagues are $20/team. Most tournaments are $10/team or individual.

    Where are games played?

Most games are played at either the Strom WFC or Blatt PEC.

    When are most games played?

    Monday-Thursday 5-11p.m.
    Friday 3-9 p.m.
    Sunday 1-10 p.m.

    How long is the season?

In most leagues, each team is scheduled for 3-4 games (usually just 1 per week), then assuming the team is eligible, they are placed in a single elimination playoff bracket. Tournament formats vary depending on the sport and number of teams registered.

What types of leagues are offered?

    CoRec, Fraternity, Men’s, Sorority & Women’s

    Are their employment opportunities?

Yes! Students officiate each of our league sports. There are also opportunities for advancement within Intramural Sports as a supervisor or sport coordinator.

Do I have to have a team to play?

No! You can log on to and pick any sport and even any division & sign up as a free agent. This will give captains & players in those sports & divisions the opportunity to pick you up if they are short players, but it does not guarantee you a spot on a team. With over 1,100 teams registering each year it is very easy to find people to play with on your own – especially in your residence hall.

    What do the winners get?

Winners receive a championship t-shirt of that sport!
