Swim For Life FAQ
What is Swim for Life?
The Swim for Life progam is a self-motivational program which allows swimmers to set goals and work towards achieving these goals at their own pace. To encourage participation, incentives will be awareded when swimmers reach pre-determind mile-markers. Our focus is fitness through swimming.
Who can participate?
Swim or Life is open to all USC Students, Faculty/Staff and their spouses.
When and Where?
Swim for Life began October 17, 2005 and runs through the end of spring semester 2006. This will be an annual program that runs beginning in the fall semester through spring semester. Each fall every participant must re-register and will start with zero miles. Registrants can participate at either the WFC of PEC. Please note that in order to utilize the WFC, you must be a USC-Columbia student, faculty, staff or spouse with a WFC membership. Spouses who utilize the PEC must have a current PEC family membership.
How do I register for the Swim for Life program?
To register, please obtain a registration form from one of the on-duty lifeguards at either the WFC or PEC. Simply ask for a registration form and fill it out before you swim.
Who keeps track of the distances I swim?
You do! Upon completing a registration form, you will also fill out an index card with your name and telephone number, to be kept on file at the pool. Each time you come in to swim, count the number of yards you've swum for the day and report this to the lifeguard on duty. The lifeguard will then record this information on your index card. The aquatics staff will keep an updated file of each swimmer's progress and will post this information on a chart.
